If you’re invited to a citizen science project in Coreo you’ll be given one or several different options for how to sign up:

1. A unique alpha-numeric code, which will be in the following format AB – 123456
2. A QR code
3. A URL

Method 1 – Unique Code

If you are given a code for a project there are two possible options:

1. You don’t have Coreo installed at all, and you need to start from scratch. We cover this option first in these instructions.
2. You already have Coreo and some projects installed and you wish to add another one. We cover how to do this in the final section.

Using a code if you don’t already have a Coreo account

• First download the Coreo app from the relevant app store:

1. iOS
2. Android

• Once you’re on the sign in screen (shown below) select “Got a code?“

• On the following screen, enter your code and then choose the most appropriate option for signing into Coreo.

We’ll choose Sign up to this project, which is what you’d do if you’ve not previously created an account in Coreo.

• Enter your email, name and a password

• Once you have completed your details hit Sign Up

• You’ll now need to head over to your email to verify your email address

• After doing that, return to the app where you should be taken straight into the project ready to add your first record (using the Plus icon, circled below).

Using a code when you already have a Coreo account

If you are already using Coreo, it’s still easy to install a citizen science project using a code. Here’s how:

• Make sure you’re signed into Coreo.
• Navigate to the Available projects tab. You can do this by tapping on the Menu icon, selecting Projects from the menu and then tapping on the vertical ellipsis.
• Next, choose the Add project by code link

• Finally, enter your code to install and access the required project

Method 2 – QR Code

If you have a QR code for a Coreo project, simply follow these steps:

• “Scan” the QR code with the camera on your mobile device (point the camera at it)
• Select the link that is provided (see highlighted area in the image below). This will take you to the relevant app store to download Coreo.

• Install the Coreo app

• If you are an existing Coreo user, sign in. If you are new to Coreo, use the No Account, Sign up option which you will find on the Sign in screen (see image below).

• If you’re signing up for the first time, you’ll now need to verify your email address.

• After doing that, return to the app where you should be taken straight into the project ready to add your first record (using the Plus icon, circled below).

Method 3 – URL

Using a URL to access a citizen science project follows the same pathway as Method 2, except that you need to type the URL into your browser, or follow a link you’ve been provided (e.g. from email or web page).

Please note that some social media applications, such as Facebook will alter URLs that are shared. If your URL doesn’t present you with the correct No Account, Sign up option when you’ve installed Coreo, please ask your project coordinator to share the URL by email or provide you with a code or QR code.
