Editing Records in Coreo: The App
If you want to continue working on a record that you’ve saved or submitted you can do so both on and offline using the Coreo App.
Note that you can only edit records that you created. The two exceptions to this rule are:
- If you are an organisation or project admin
- If “Allow other members to update” is selected for the form in question (see image below)

To start editing your records:
- Tap the record you want to edit, in this case it is a UKHab Survey record.
- Once selected tap the blue ‘Open Record’ button in the pop-up window.

- Then tap the 3 dots icon in the upper right of the screen.

- Then select ‘Edit record’ from the drop down menu.

You’ll now see an editable summary view of your record. You also have the option of editing the record by re-entering the original form you used to create the record, and we’ll look at that in a later section.
Editing your record in Summary mode
The summary view of your record presents your data as a series of data entry fields all on the same page. This is a convenient and quick way to make minor changes to your record.
Editing the geometry
- Tap the ‘Edit Geometry’ button in the bottom right of the record map.

You will now see your geometry presented in edit mode. All of the appropriate geometry tools, including snap and overlap are available.

- Adjust your geometry, as required.

If you wish to revert your changes at any point:
- Tap the white ‘Cancel’ button at the bottom of your screen.

- Once you have completed your changes tap the blue ‘Confirm’ button at the bottom of your screen.

Your changes are now visible in the main record details screen.

Editing other fields
Below the record map you will also see all the fields associated with your survey form. To make changes:

- Tap the field you wish to change.

Depending on the field type you will see different options. In this example we are editing a searchable list. To change the answer we can simply select another option from the list.

Once you have made your changes you can either Save them locally (if in the field with limited signal, for example) or use the Save and Sync option to fully update the record in Coreo.

If you want to exit without saving your changes:
- Tap the ‘Cancel’ text in the upper right corner of the page.

Note: Using cancel will undo all changes made to the record including any changes to geometry.
Editing your record in Form mode
Using the ‘Open Form’ button will drop you back into the original form used to create the record. This allows you to work back through the record creation process from start to finish, making any corrections as you go.

For more ways to edit your records check out our User Guides on the Coreo Admin Area and the UKHab and BNG Platform respectively.
Cloning a Record
As part of the suite of tools for interacting with your records you can copy a record. To copy an existing record:
- Open your record using the blue button.

- Tap the ‘3 dots’ icon in the upper right corner.

- Select ‘Clone Record’ from the drop down menu.

If working with a record that has geometries you can simply tap on the now cloned record and edit it and then move it to a new location. To do this:
- Click ‘Edit Geometry’.

- Tap and hold the geometry until the distance measurements disappear (‘Show metrics’ must be enabled in geometry settings for this).
- Move the geometry to a new location.

You can also clone records in a child from. This is especially useful in scenarios where you have to add multiple records of the same type quickly. A good example of this is quadrats. To clone records in a child form:
- Open a record containing a child form.
- Edit that record and find the child form in the record summary.

- Tap the overlapping pages icon.

The record has now been copied and can be edited a normal in order to differentiate it from the original
Deleting a Record
You can also delete records in app. To do so:
- Tap the ‘3 dots’ icon in the upper right corner.

- Then select ‘Delete Record’ from the drop down menu

Your record is now pending delete. This means that it remains in the project until the project is synced, at which point it will be removed from your project. Until you sync the project it will remain available to restore. For a more in depth explanation of this please see our document on deleting records here.
