The UKHab & BNG Platform: Updating your Red Line Boundary
There may be situations where you need to make changes to your red line boundary or where you need to add your boundary to your project later in your process. Thankfully making changes to your red line boundary is straightforward.
To begin making changes open the project setting page by:
- Clicking the blue ‘cog’ icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen

The project setting screen will default to the Red Line Boundary tab.

There are several options available to you when changing your boundary.
To edit your existing boundary:
- Click the polygon(s), to select it/them.

- Click the border of your polygon(s) to add more nodes
- Click on a node and drag it to a new position to alter the shape
- Repeat this until your new red line boundary is complete

- You can also delete nodes from your polygon(s) to simplify its/their shape.

If your project needs new separate red line boundaries these can also be added. To do so:
- Click on your map to un-select your currently selected polygon
You can now create your second boundary by dropping nodes to build out your shape.

When your new red line boundary is complete click the ‘Complete’ tick icon
You can also create your boundary using the freehand draw tool.

To import a red line boundary you will have to have a zipped shapefile ready containing either a polygon or a multi-polygon. By selecting this option you will replace any existing boundaries that you have. To do so:
- Click the ‘Import New Red Line Boundary’ button

A confirmation box will appear, click the blue ‘Import’ button and then select your shapefile.

Once you have selected your new boundary the map will zoom to it.

To delete your existing red line boundary:
- Click the red ‘Delete Red Line Boundary’ button

A confirmation box will appear. If you are happy to proceed:
- Click the red ‘Delete’ button

Finally if you wish to export your red line boundary for use in QGIS or other programs you can do so by:
- Clicking the ‘Export Red Line Boundary’ button.

This will download a shapefile of your boundary to your device.
